Students can participate in the many performance opportunities offered by the Music Teachers Association of California.
- Adult Performance program: once yearly, students can audition to have a private lesson with a master teacher, or to perform in a master class or recital at the annual MTAC convention.
- Certificate of Merit: I no longer participate in Certificate of Merit. I prefer the Royal Conservatory’s Music Development Program.
- Improvisation Evaluation: students can submit a recording for evaluation and possible selection to perform at the annual MTAC convention.
- VOCE competition: pianists can participate in this annual event as a member of a chamber ensemble.
The Alameda County Branch of the MTAC also sponsors its own performance events, mainly for school age students.
- Discovery Scholarship: offers funds to help defray cost of private lessons based on competitive audition and financial need.
- Formal Student Recitals: are held monthly at the Crowden School.
- Informal Student Recitals: are held about six times during the school year
- Memorial Scholarship Competition: annual event which awards small stipends to students chosen to perform on an awards recital.
